New Forest Study Trip

K6 Gallery staff recently made the short journey over to the New Forest to see some other K6 phone kiosks which have already been converted into community spaces.

In total five kiosks were viewed, and we were lucky enough to get the chance to meet Jim Donnelly and Dan Stickland who are responsible for restoring four of them. They were kind enough to show us around the Marchwood phone box and talk us through their restoration work. You can read more about their restorations on their website here.

All five kiosks at Marchwood, Emery Down, Firtham, Bramshaw and Furzley were adopted through BT’s adopt a kiosk scheme and now operate as book swap / information centres for the local community and visitors alike.

The Emery Down kiosk, pictured above, was the first to be repurposed and you can see more about that kiosk on their website.
