Curator / Researcher wanted

K6 Gallery is seeking an artist/researcher/historian/writer/curator to undertake a central role in creating content for an upcoming exhibition.

The exhibition, scheduled to run in early 2018 will document a series of works by the late Des Francis. After conversations with Des’s family we are planning to put on this exhibition to celebrate and highlight this colourful eccentric local character.

An ardent activist, Des had a strong creative streak, he took thousands of photographs and made annotated collages throughout his lifetime.

This will involve arranging access to Des’s family home in Southampton to create a digital archive of his work that can then be reproduced for the exhibition.

The stories would need to be written down and should help to create an idea of Des’s life. As well as being used in the exhibition these would also be compiled into a booklet to accompany the exhibition. An short obituary for Des Francis can be read here.
