Cut it Out: Jill Laudet and Debbie Lee

08/03/2019 - 10/06/2019

Cut It Out is a site-specific installation by artists, Jill Laudet and Debbie Lee. Inspired by Lotte Reiniger’s silhouetted animations, and informed by their research into Indian shadow puppetry, Jill and Debbie have handcrafted thirty six cut out images illustrating six fables that celebrate diversity and inclusivity.

Jill Laudet trained at West Dean College of Art and her installations are designed to be suitable for everyday public spaces for critical reflection on universal socio-political issues. Laudet’s artwork celebrates enduring human capabilities and prompts further speculation.

Debbie Lee trained in painting at Glasgow School of Art and the Royal College of Art and was a Commonwealth Research Scholar in folk arts of India. She has also worked as an art therapist; her work is a psychological response to identity and difference.

Join us for the launch on Friday 8th March. We will meet at the phone boxes at 6pm, there will be an artists talk at around 6:15, and then we’ll be heading to the pub for celebratory drinks – all are welcome.
